Dubs are better now than they used to be? I dare anyone saying so to go to this site, watch ALL
THREE "Bad American Dubbing" features and THEN come back and bitch
about it. And that's not even including the British dubs/swearfests that was
slapped on various UK releases back in my VHS buying days.
As for learning Japanese from anime.... if you honestly meant SOLELY from
watching anime as a replacement for having to take language courses in school or
something similar, then that's the kind of reasoning that sends me to the floor,
howling with laughter. Yeah, I wonder if I should try convincing people that I
learned English by watching Hollywood movies and really, really listening. I
mean... sure, reading stuff, writing and generally listening to English in
various types of media has been a great help, but seriously...
Given how 300 ended, I don't see how the prospect of a sequel would be unlikely.
The way the movie was set up, it played out like the beginning of a larger story
-- a grander continuation of the path 300 set for itself.
I'm going to second that. This smacks too much of "pissing off the
fanboys". Furthermore, I've seen only one of the five shows mentioned above
(Inuyasha), but I've read the manga of three of them. (Inuyasha, Naruto, One
Piece.)
Besides, even the lesser of the mainstream shows are much, much better than the
absolute worst shitpiles out there among ANY anime.
Unless you have a tendency to get bored very, very easily, I recommend Aqua and
Aria (Aqua is basically the prequel to Aria.) It's one of the best
slice-of-life-ish manga I've ever read.
Really? I'm under the impression that most of the girls in anime scans and
wallies look pretty dang happy. Maybe I'm not looking at the right shows or
something.
Not that it matters in the long run, but I'm a guy.
Anyway, what reality? Adapt to what? What illusions? What kind of attention do
people seek that you find offensive? If you're going to blame the entire world
for something, at least be more specific. Or bring some examples to the table.
Because the only thing I can read from your post is that you seem disappointed
with the fact that people fail to live up to whatever expectations you have for
them, expectations that they may or may not have asked for. As far as
"people are looking for attention/sympathy" are concerned, however, I
have no idea where you got that from. It sounds like you're blaming people for
socializing and trying to give off a good impression.
As for how I'm seeing you, that leans more towards "self-absorbed",
maybe with a hint of nihilism. If that qualifies you as a bastard in your own
pocket universe, then yes, I see you as a bastard. Everyone on this planet has
good and bad sides to them, and it sounds to me like you refuse to see their
good sides, instead choosing to focus on the solely negative traits. That's my
"illusion" so far, so feel free to convince me otherwise.
You go around calling everyone bastards who only want attention for themselves
and then gripe about how noone is giving you the attention/love/sympathy you
feel you deserve. I really hope you're seeing the irony in this.
Don't let the "truth" that you have somehow "realized" stop
you from trying to understand other people's "illusions". Personally,
I find your "truth" judgemental and condescending, so I guess it's a
good thing you are honest enough to come forward with your feelings on the
subject. Otherwise, I might have mistaken you for an alright guy.
I mostly go with dubs, simply because I prefer to listen to a language I can
understand. Besides, most dubs nowadays are almost as good as the original voice
acting anyway.
Actually, you should never blow on electronic components -- even contact points
-- because the dampness of your breath may cause rusting. I heard this tip in
regard to old cartridge games, but I'm sure you can apply it to PC components as
well.
Yeesh, the things I find via Google at times. Yeah, those are my
reviews.
Anyway, for the record, I've mellowed out a little on Girls Bravo since I
reviewed it, but I still hate the on-male violence something fierce, slapstick
or not. It's a dumb show altogether, though, and I doubt I'd be willing to
impart it with any more than two stars even today.
DearS, on the other hand, I still find to be a huge load of unadulterated trash
that will never deserve any more than one star. It's a shallow, tepid,
completely uninspired piece of shit whose popularity I will never understand.
Even if you're in it for the daydream of getting an animated girlfriend with big
boobs, just about any other show on the face of this planet is better than
DearS. Believe me, my hatred for this show is still very much alive.
And it's only for "REAL music loverz", so all you fakes out there
should listen and learn. Delirium is here to teach you how to "keep it
real". Or "keepz it realz" or whatever.
Quote by priincessHe doesnt want people
that's not serious believe in God nor honest people who doesnt know God bcoz
nobody will be 'always honest' if he doesnt know God, for God Himself is the
kindness, loving, n evrything which are good. it's like He's the teacher for us
to understand what kindness or honest is. beside, evyrthing good comes from Him,
if a person has kindness, honesty, patient in him, he must be a children of God,
n is chosen from God.
If one goes by this statement, does that mean that someone who generally
portrays (and I'm not just talking skin deep here) all the personality traits of
a good person is a child of god by default, whether he says he believes in God
or not? (Emphasis on "not" for this example, though.)
It would help if you mentioned WHICH anime you were talking about, preferably in
the thread title. Since I have no idea who Hayami-chan is, I guess I'm out.
Quote by writermAlfredigital, I totally
agree with your opinion on getting consoles.
I used to play a lot of GTA 3 and Vice City on my PS2. When they came out with
San Andreas, I was pissed since it was so different, and I didn't know when it
was ok to get out of my car. Then they made that version for the PSP...now it's
the Xbox?! What the hell? I'm not made of cash!
What? Is anyone holding guns against your head and forcing you to buy everything
new?
If everyone embraced that line of thought, we'd all still be playing Atari 2600
games on black and white TVs.
Quote by writermAnyway...
One thing that should be payed more attention to in video games is that each
character gets their own voice actor, and that they have had a lot of time
rehearsing any accents, or kinds of speach. My current favorite game is
"Age of Empires 3" (I have all 3). I realized recently that some of
the voices are very similar. One of the accents were kind of stupid. Call me
picky, but I think game designers don't really focus on all aspects of a game.
They take more time with scenery, plot, and whatever female characters they
have. They neglect other parts of the game that make it better - like their
voices!
Voice acting is a bonus. While it's sad to hear bad voice acting, I would rather
have them focus on the gameplay first and foremost. Visual and aural pleasures
come second.
Actually some of them looked like they were around ten, and their facial
expressions did not bode well for what was going on and would continue to go on
in said game. It's been a while since I saw the link myself, so I don't remember
it TOO well, but my initial post in this thread pretty much mirrored my feelings
at the time. And whatever English text was there told me that the game was about
you (the player) checking out various girls to see whether they were witches.
This you apparently did by poking the lower screen (which usually had the hip)
and doing stuff like lifting up their skirts or just poking them on whatever
exposed skin you could get your stylus on. Also, according to some of the text,
you were also free to rummage through their rooms when they were away.
Do I think games like that should be censored? No, not really. That would imply
that this kind of behavior should be considered ok as long as it's sufficiently
"covered up". The whole "I may look ten, but I'm really 18!
Honest!" angle is just.... yeah.
Do I think games like that should be released over here (or in the US, for that
matter?) Uh... no. While I wouldn't call it as bad as outright child porn, it's
not something which I would encourage making more of.
Quote by shoujoboyWell you can be a
jerk in Fable, but not really bad. Sometimes doing what the bad guy would do,
will get you a game over. You might have a mission to escort some merchants and
if you do the evil thing of killing them and stealing all of their stuff, you
end up with a game over. So you have to escort them and get good points. Not
like being evil really gets you anything outside of the ability to burp and
fart... which is totally evil.
Well, that's lame. Thanks for clearing that up, I guess.
Oh, forgot to mention Champions: Return to
Arms for the PS2, where you can choose to side with evil at the beginning
of the game. It leads to some stage changes and some dialogue changes, plus you
fight a different boss at the very end of the game.

BITCHES ARE ONLY EQUAL WHEN IT CONVEYS THEM!
Quote by SulibresAs for cliche things in
games? How about an RPG based on the bad guys for once? I'm sick of playing a
hero all the time.
There is this old PC game called.... Dungeon Master or somesuch, where you
basically play as the master of a dungeon, and you get to set up traps and stuff
to catch/kill any would-be heroes who try to enter.
There's also the Fable games, where you're supposedly given the opportunity to
choose.
Oh, and let's not forget City of Villains, where you basically create a villain
character and play said character out in an MMORPG world of sorts.

If you want smiling girls, go to the Aria sections. That show is about 95% smiles.

Yukari (from Azumanga Daioh) in the Yukarimobile. She will own your laptimes so hard, your kids will be reeling.

Rightstuf will be releasing Aria the Animation in a single (sub-only) box set dirt cheap at the end of September. Try it!

I don't know if there's all that many groups I like, but I'm rather fond of Choro Club. (Who makes the music for, amongst others, the Aria series.)
On the other hand, Visual Kei bands can all go and eat my visual shorts.
